The cranberry is one of the superfoods that we offer at Bayas del Sur in freeze-dried powder and juice concentrates format. One of the unique things about this fruit has to do with its harvest, which is very particular and completely different from the rest of the berries in the world.
In fields that meet specific climatic conditions and characteristics in Chile, the US and Canada, pools are created where cranberry seeds are planted, and then flooded with up to 46 cm of water the night before harvest (equivalent to 32,000 liters of water). Water that is otherwise reused in irrigation and as fertilizer, to maintain the aesthetics of the different parks of this type of production.
Then, different types of technology are used depending on the country, to release the fruit from the tree and this, having 4 cavities inside, can float in the water.
Finally, the farmers use special floating belts to push the fruits to the truck that extracts and gathers them, and then they are transferred to the production plants where they are processed to be transformed into powder, dehydrated fruits, concentrated juice, among others.
What are the main benefits of consuming cranberry?
It is characterized by having unique antibacterial properties that help prevent urinary tract infections, very common in women. It also helps to meet the daily intake of fruits, acting as an antioxidant, stomach protector and immune system.
