Healthy eating after the holidays: Restore your well-being

After the holidays and large celebrations, it’s common for our eating habits to become a bit disorganized, with excessive food and drink that can affect our well-being. It’s crucial to return to healthy eating habits to restore balance and keep ourselves in optimal condition.

The holidays often tempt us with foods high in trans fats, sugars, and empty calories, which can lead to feelings of heaviness, lack of energy, and, in the long term, impact our health. To counter these effects, it’s essential to adopt a nutrient-rich diet that includes fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. This approach not only helps detoxify the body but also strengthens our immune system and recharges our energy levels.

A great way to start the day after a big celebration is with a balanced breakfast, which could include chia with fresh fruits, a green smoothie, or even add some freeze-dried berries from Bayas del Sur to your morning smoothie. Additionally, staying hydrated is crucial. Drinking water and healthy fluids helps flush out toxins and keeps the body functioning properly.

For those moments when you want to enjoy a refreshing drink without the excess calories and alcohol, we recommend a delicious mocktail suggested by our ambassador Moniré Arce from @arohamaichile. Here’s an easy and revitalizing recipe:

Aroha Mai Antioxidant Mocktail:

  • Pomegranate
  • Hand-picked lemon
  • Freshly pressed ginger juice
  • 100% natural stevia
  • Non-alcoholic rosé wine
  • Maqui juice (with freeze-dried maqui powder from @bayasdelsur)

Instructions:

1. Pre-chill the glass with ice, then add the ice to the shaker.

2. In the glass, add:

  • Pomegranate: potassium, vitamin C, and B-complex vitamins.
  • Ginger juice: boosts your immunity.
  • 100% stevia: doesn’t harm the microbiota.

3. In the shaker with ice, add:

  • Lemon juice: vitamin C.
  • Maqui juice: flavonoids (antioxidant).
  • Non-alcoholic wine: avoids neurotoxicity.
  • Egg white: protein.

And enjoy!

Adopting healthy eating habits after the holidays, and even during them, is essential to restoring our well-being and feeling in harmony with our bodies once again. Incorporating nutritious and delicious drinks, like the mocktail with our freeze-dried maqui, can be a pleasurable and effective way to get our eating habits back on track.
